January 2014: Looking Ahead: The Top Employment Law Issues for 2014

Our first seminar provided an overview of changes in the law and forecasted the leading issues for human resource departments and professionals on the horizon for 2014. By the end of 2013, law departments saw more employment litigation and increasing regulation. Employment and regulatory matters comprise many companies’ biggest dockets and largest buckets of worry. To assist our clients in navigating the employment law terrain, Gordon & Rees launched its National Employment Law Webinar series to be presented each month in 2014.

In January’s webinar, attendees learned what should be on their list of top priorities for the coming year, how to plan effectively and how to protect their company from being a target in litigation.

Topics included: Class actions and wage & hour trends; Expansion of: paid family leave benefits, the definition of sexual harassment, whistleblower protections; Regulations on pregnancy discrimination, pregnancy leave and disability discrimination; Implications of technology use, social media, and work-from-home policies; and Workforce mobility, turnover and non-solicitation.

Please note, MCLE and HRCI credit can only be provided to those who attended the live presentation.
